If you book a skydive, there’s a guarantee you’ll hear this question: “Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good plane?”
We hear this all of the time.
The truth is, it makes no sense to jump, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth doing. It’s hard for people to understand the rationale of jumping until you actually experience it. Only then can you understand why so many people do it over and over again.
Here, we share the reasons we love to skydive.
Feelings of Achieving Something Big
Achievement doesn’t come by simply existing and going through each day the same way. Achievement comes from challenging yourself. Whether it’s graduating from college, training for an athletic event, building a business or in this case, skydiving, there has to be a challenge involved.
Skydiving offers a major challenge because it requires a person to leave all that’s comfortable and do something that many people say is crazy. In light of all the naysayers, to achieve something like skydiving and to LOVE IT, will make you feel like a million dollars.
Empowering
If you scaled Mt. Everest, you’d feel that you could scale any mountain. So it is with skydiving. Once you’ve jumped, what else can you accomplish? The million dollar answer is: ANYTHING YOU WANT. That is empowering and to us makes skydiving worth the risk especially when considering the safety statistics.
Be Present
To jump means to live in the moment. Life is challenging and filled with worries and regrets. When skydiving, none of those things matter. Skydiving commands your attention to live purely in the present and for many, that is a huge reward. Divorce, health issues, financial problems, childcare, job stress… it all goes away for at least five minutes. It’s an awesome gift!
Makes You Feel Happy
We’re not scientists, but the rush of serotonin and other cool chemicals creates a natural high leaving you feeling happy. Anyone who has skydived can attest that you’ll be smiling for about three days after the jump.
Why skydive? Because it makes us happy, forces us to enjoy life and empowers us to do even bigger things. We think everyone should give it a try!
